About Us

If you grew up like I did, you would never believe anything bad anyone ever told you about America. Call me naive, but I thought I lived in a Hallmark movie ever since I was a young girl, and in reality that is the way it should be. I was born in 1956 and grew up living in a wonderful multiracial neighborhood in California.

All of us kids stayed out and played until the street lights turned on, then we would all run home because our moms would make dinner, then we played some more before getting ready for bed, just to start all over again the next day.

America, with all its faults, is still one of the best places to live on earth. Thanks to my father who grew up in England and then moved to America, his five kids had a taste of the American dream. Having lived in England during WWII, he knew all too well what could happen to America if it did not stand on its founding principles, and from the time I was five years old my dad made sure our family was survival-minded in every way.
Our home in the late 60s was near Watts, (remember the riots of 1965?). We were pretty much in the middle of that mess, but my father was always ready, and we learned some very good life lessons. In the 70’s, he bought a five-acre farm in Ojai, California, where we had to work most weekends pruning over 100 different fruit trees, picking fruit to sell, working in our garden, and learning what it takes to run a business and eat!
Our next home was a small house on a canal in Ventura, California where my dad had a fishing boat, and we kept our freezers full of fresh ocean fish. My four brothers and I got the best education on how to survive and my dad always made it like a true adventure. There is so much more to the story of how it all began, and I have written a book about it that will be available soon.
Which brings us to today, living in Texas where I was born, me, my husband David, and our two kids. Guess what happens when you meet and marry a jack of all trades, with an entrepreneurial spirit? My husband and I found that we wanted to share all our knowledge and skills with other people, and we wanted to work with troubled young people because most people don’t understand how to help them. We realized that what most of us never get to obtain in life is an understanding of what real freedom is. We think if we have a good job and own a house and a car, we get to have a little freedom, but that is a facade. Most people have bought into this lie that we learn from the time we are young through school, then college, and then society.

What if I told you that deep down inside each and every one of us there is a farmer, a rancher, a tradesman, an entrepreneur, a chef, and a real soul that can learn everything that can set us free? The average person does not know where to learn about these things. School does not teach you, and yes, there are trade schools, but our two kids have been our greatest teachers. The way we raised them, they did not even know that they could not achieve whatever they put their minds to. I have always known this deep in my heart, and my husband is the kind of person that whatever he wants to learn, he becomes a master of it. Both of our kids are masters of their skills, and they have many.
